I don’t know about you, but my calendar is unusually packed for this time of year; between birthday parties, graduation parties, and summer festivities, there is always somewhere to go and something to do! In celebration of the season, my friends and I ventured to ACE Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles for a girls night out!
The exterior architecture of the hotel gave off a gothic vibe. ACE Hotel is located in the United Artists Building, which was built in 1927 and originally used as a film studio. Directly adjacent to the hotel is the Theatre at ACE Hotel that hosts artists ranging from James Bay to Ingrid Michaelson to Florence + The Machine.
During our stay at ACE, we decided to valet our car. The valet is located directly in front of the hotel and cost $36 a night. It was 100% worth not having to worry about finding overnight parking in Downtown Los Angeles.
The hotel rooms at ACE were very mid-century modern in design. With cement ceilings and a minimalistic style, the decor required somewhat of an acquired taste. The most unique aspect of the room was the openness of the design where the bedroom and bathroom spaces had no dividing walls. Better be comfortable with whomever you’re rooming with!
Compared to other restaurants and bars that I’ve been to, the rooftop at ACE Hotel has one of the most unobstructed cityscape views of Downtown Los Angeles! This location was amazing because the view was equally as spectacular regardless of whichever side of the roof you were at.
The rooftop bar is open from 11 am to 2 am. Between the live music and the rooftop pool, the environment was extremely lively. However, my favorite experience on the rooftop was when it was completely empty. I grabbed a coffee from the shop in the lobby, Los Angeles Chapter, and ventured up to the roof around 6 am. I had the most amazing experience watching the city slowly come to life.
You know what I always say- The best way to start your day is with a chai latte exploring DTLA. Be sure to visit ACE hotel, located in DTLA, for a one of a kind experience! Check back next week for another Secret of SoCal.
