This week’s Secret of SoCal is Joan’s on Third.

Although Joan’s has two locations, I went to the location off of (you guessed it…) Third Street. Walking up to Joan’s on Third, I saw what I thought was just a typical café. Upon walking through the double doors, I found so much more.

Joan’s has the aura of an old-fashioned market or deli. The black and white tile welcomes customers in along with a mixture of savory and sweet aromas. Although Joan’s serves complete meals, you can also purchase specialty cheeses, fresh salads, pickled meats- the list of mouth-watering items is endless!

The staff was efficient, friendly, and extremely accommodating. At first, I was a little turned around because there were two different cash registers you could order from. Although I initially only wanted an omelet, I accidentally ordered an omelet, nutella pound cake, and a mocha…obviously for all intents and purposes of informing readers…

Let me tell you about the world’s best omelet. I ordered a basic omelet and chose three additional items I wanted within- spinach, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. The additional ingredients were cocooned within a semi-circle of soft eggs. When using the side of my fork to cut the omelet, it split apart like soft butter to reveal the perfect medley of melted cheese and veggies. I don’t think eggs have ever tasted so delicious.

That’s not all. When you hear the phrase “nutella pound cake” you’re probably thinking that it’s only a figment of every chocolate lover’s fantasy. Think again! It’s a real thing on the menu at Joan’s on Third! This pound cake was the perfect combination of sweet, moist, and buttery.

Joan’s also has an expansive lunch menu that I can’t wait to go back and try. Not only was the food delicious, but also the atmosphere was extremely inviting. This fast-casual restaurant is worth all the buzz. Be sure to try Joan’s on Third at their Beverly Hills or Santa Monica location.
