URTH to Erica! I have a huge midterm in less than 24 hours! So why am I drooling and thinking of carrot cake instead of studying?
This week’s Secret of SoCal is Urth Caffe in Laguna Beach.
In late September of this year, Laguna Beach became home to the sixth Urth Caffe. As a frequent patron of Urth Caffe, I was beyond excited when I saw the construction off of PCH. Many months later, I was not disappointed.
Urth Caffe in Laguna Beach is the perfect place for all the hipsters and foodies that want to watch the sunset and enjoy a bold espresso or two. As always, there was a signature line out the door that led up to the cottage. While in line, I observed that this location had a quaint, homie essence filled familiar warm scents, and a hint of ocean breeze.
Everything from the furniture to the plant fixtures to the bathrooms had been completely remodeled. Even the bathrooms at this location were far superior to the other locations.
I ordered my usual favorite- a chicken quesadilla on a spinach tortilla. I also decided to mix it up and try a slice of carrot cake. Who can say no to creamy frosting? My total was around eighteen dollars, which brings me to my one qualm about Urth Caffe. It’s a bit pricey. However, it serves as the perfect treat once in a while.
After the young woman at the register took our order, we walked out to the picturesque patio to seat ourselves. The atmosphere is worth the lack of parking on PCH. Patrons can admire the ocean from their seats on the patio. In addition, there was great service. Our food arrived relatively quickly thanks to the friendly and accommodating service.
After we ate our food, we were ready for the real treat of the evening, the carrot cake. It would be an understatement to say that this was the best slice of carrot cake I’ve ever had (sorry gram). The perfect blend of carrots, raisins, pineapple, batter, and other ingredients made each moist bite slightly more enticing than the previous.
After the perfect dining experience, my friends and I walked one block to the beach to watch the sunset on the hot fall evening. My experience at Urth Caffe in Laguna left me beyond satisfied.
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check back next week for another Secret of SoCal.
And remember- Take Care of This Moment.
